From a single refreshed bed to a full front-yard plan. We plant for Kansas summers and cut a crisp spade edge that keeps mulch where it belongs.

Landscaping FAQs

When is the best time to mulch beds in Kansas City?
Mid-to-late spring, once the soil has warmed but before summer heat sets in. A second light top-up in fall helps insulate roots through winter.
How deep should mulch be?
Two to three inches. Deeper than that holds too much moisture against stems and can suffocate shallow roots; thinner than that lets weeds through.
What plants hold up best in Overland Park yards?
Natives and proven regional performers — little bluestem, coneflower, sedum, boxwood, viburnum and ornamental grasses — because they tolerate our hot summers and cold snaps without constant watering.
Do you install new beds or only maintain existing ones?
Both. We lay out and cut new beds, amend soil, plant and mulch, and we also refresh tired beds that just need edging, weeding and new material.
